Destination guide
Sigiriya is an ancient city centred on a dramatic granite rock rising about 180 metres above its surroundings. UNESCO records that King Kassapa I made the site his capital in the late fifth century, with remains extending across the slopes and summit. Access through the historic complex includes galleries and stairways associated with the monumental lion gateway that gave the rock its famous identity.
Today, Sigiriya offers visitors a combination of archaeology, architecture and landscape. MyTaxiHub Explore should present it as an important cultural destination without using exaggerated labels such as “the eighth wonder of the world” as if they were official designations.
